Keifer Gallimore,
Keifer Gallimore, currently a student in Computation Arts at Concordia University, is a digital media artist and designer. Originally a student in Computer Science with in-depth knowledge of programming. Keifer's evolution into digital art has allowed him to explore a greater interest, the union of computation and visual art. Currently specializing in 3D art, Keifer is looking to explore the combination of generative art and 3D modeling, emphasizing the collaboration between computers and artists. In the future, Keifer will also expand his practice by incorporating the use of audio, extending his practice to the visual representation of audio data.

InterActive

My research-creation project, InterAction, explores how the emergence of computers and more specifically handheld devices, in our daily life has impacted our interaction with our surrounding environment. As computers devices have become increasingly pervasive, they have become capable of altering various mental functions. Of great interest is the process of acquiring and applying knowledge through visual observation. On one hand, computers devices have augmented many aspects of our lives, on the other, its has greatly altered our level of connectedness with our surroundings.

By approaching these devices from a certain perspective, viewing them through their potential impact on our sensory experience, we can explore the relationship between real and virtual spaces. InterAction attempts to raise awareness on how engaged with computers devices, viewing them through their potential impact on the human experience.

The piece illustrates the constant conflict between the real and virtual world. Overlaying a clip of an everyday environment is a 3D visual loop sequence created in Blender, designed with abstract 3D geometric shapes in constant motion, representing a virtual space and communicating the invasive nature of these virtual spaces. The audio level of the environment also fluctuates demonstrating the multi-sensory impact of engaging with computer devices.
