What happens when a social media algorithm is assigned a racist user?
The Racist Algorithm is a satirical interactive web story that questions Twitter's
laissez-faire policy of freedom of expression amidst the rise of hate speech on its
platform. Would this policy propagate extreme points of view and contribute to the current problem of political radicalization in the United States?
To learn more about Twitter algorithm, the author followed over 60 far-right accounts and actively engaged with various racist tweets from October to November
2022. This story is a recreation of the artist’s encounter with influential racial
discrimination contents from various radicals on the platform.
