Grow your city

My project is a 2D top-down video game centred around resource management and maintaining the health of our environment. I set out to explore the question, "In the age of constant media intake, how conscious are we of our effect on the environment and what we can do to help?" The goal is to push the players to make decisions and live through the consequences to learn about their environmental impact. The game will show how players react to common issues surrounding maintaining the health of our environment and encourage them to delve further into this issue. The core gameplay consists of managing the user’s resources as well as their population and well-being. The game is made to be challenging, as you have to balance the evolution of your city with the well-being of your people. Throughout the game, the player will also be faced with scenarios meant to mimic real-life issues. They will be forced to make difficult choices and work through the consequences of their actions. At the end of the game, the user will receive a score based on how they managed their resources, how they grew their city and how their actions would have affected the environment. This score, along with some additional resources, will encourage users to go for the best score and learn how they affect the environment in the game and in real life.
