Cognitive Overload Prototype

For my prototype, I decided to produce a piece of digital art, revolving around the notion of Cognitive Overload. As a student, cognitive overload is a phenomenon that has an immense chance of occurring within each academic semester, as we push our mental limits to fulfilling every academic task. Cognitive overload is the phenomenon of trying to take in too much information to the point where the individual becomes stunted, confused, stressed, and non-productive. The art piece that I designed draws inspiration from the streets of New York, or more specifically, Times Square. Any popular downtown city commonly has that one main street where buildings are stacked to the brim with random information such as advertisements, street lights, festival lights, billboards, posters, store fronts, etc. Any city goer is usually accustomed to such a density of information, but what about people outside the city? That is what my prototype aims to accomplish: To induce an artificial sensory experience of what it feels like to consume too much random information, what it feels like trying to process all that information and to provide a different perspective to how we view information in popular cityscapes.
